Kakeru's per-segment routing, shape-fidelity scoring (RTMV metric), and Douglas-Peucker simplification are informed by this research. Adapted for real-time web use via the Mapbox Map Matching and Directions APIs, extended with scale-adaptive Douglas-Peucker simplification and text-route generation.
