Route Safety

Kakeru generates running routes using automated algorithms and third-party mapping services (Mapbox Map Matching, built on OpenStreetMap data). These routes are created for artistic and recreational purposes and have NOT been manually verified for safety, legality, or accessibility.

Routes generated by Kakeru may:

• Cross or lead onto private property
• Include busy highways, roads without sidewalks, or high-speed traffic areas
• Pass through areas that are unsafe, poorly lit, or restricted
• Include terrain that is unsuitable for running or walking
• Be inaccurate due to mapping data errors or road changes

Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for reviewing any route before attempting to follow it. Always check the route on a map before running, respect all traffic laws, do not trespass on private property, avoid roads without safe pedestrian access, and use your own judgment about safety conditions.

No Warranty

Kakeru provides routes on an "as is" basis without any warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that routes are safe, legal, accurate, or suitable for any purpose. Use of generated routes is entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

Kakeru, its creators, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, damage, loss, or legal consequence arising from the use of routes generated by this application.

Information We Collect

From Strava

When you sign in with Strava, we receive and store your Strava athlete ID, name, profile picture, email address, and city/country. We request only "read" scope and do not access your activities, GPS data, or workout history.

Generated by the App

We store your purchased route packs (tier, routes remaining, purchase date, Stripe session and payment intent IDs for reconciliation) and route logs (shape type, description, size, timestamp, and the pack the route was generated from). We do NOT store actual route coordinates or GPX file contents.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect GPS location data, location history, Strava activities or workouts, payment card details (handled by Stripe), browser fingerprints, or advertising identifiers.

How We Use Your Information

To authenticate your identity, manage your route packs and credits, fulfil purchases, process refunds, and improve the application.

Third-Party Services

We use Strava (authentication), Mapbox (map display, route snapping, and geocoding — built on OpenStreetMap data), Anthropic Claude AI (shape generation — no personal data sent), and Stripe (payment processing — card details never touch our servers).

Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account exists. Sessions expire after 30 days. Route logs are retained for analytics.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us. You can revoke Kakeru's access in your Strava settings under "My Apps".

Acceptance of Terms

By using Kakeru, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Description of Service

Kakeru is a web application that generates artistic GPS routes (GPX files) for recreational use, designed to form shapes or text when viewed on a map.

Route Packs & Payments

Kakeru sells route generation as one-time "packs" processed by Stripe. Three tiers are currently offered: Moment ($2.99, 1 route), Celebration ($7.99, 3 routes), and Milestone ($15.99, 10 routes). Every tier unlocks the full creative toolkit — all shapes, AI generation, freehand drawing, custom text (up to 20 characters), and every activity type — plus GPX and high-resolution PNG export. Celebration and Milestone additionally include a printable PDF poster; Milestone additionally includes a social share card. Packs never expire once purchased. We reserve the right to modify tiers, features, and pricing for future purchases with reasonable notice; packs already purchased keep the features they were sold with.

Refunds

Unused packs are fully refundable within 30 days of purchase. A pack is "unused" only if every route credit is still intact — once any route has been generated against a pack, it is no longer eligible for refund. Refund requests can be submitted via our contact page and will be processed through Stripe.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to generate routes intended to harass or target individuals, generate offensive or hateful content, circumvent pack credits or payments, use automated tools to abuse the Service, or reverse-engineer the Service.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties. Kakeru shall not be liable for any damages arising from use of the Service.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these terms.
